My Priorities
Because I know our community and its priorities, I pledge to focus on housing availability and affordability, combatting homelessness, and ensuring public safety.
Quality of Life
For all families and residents to thrive, the City of Vancouver must prioritize housing, public safety, and combat homelessness.
We need to ensure that every resident has access to safe, affordable homes, reliable transportation, and opportunities to succeed.
Affordable and Available Housing: Create mixed-income communities with access to public transportation by removing zoning barriers for developers who commit to affordability.
Public Safety: Ensure our neighborhoods are safe, healthy, and inclusive by investing in public safety programs, mental health resources, and accessible city programs and services.
Combating Homelessness is one of the most pressing issues facing Vancouver.
My plan to address this crisis includes:
Expanding Supportive Housing
Increasing the availability of housing that includes wrap-around services such as mental health care, addiction treatment, and job training to help individuals transition out of homelessness.
Strengthening Partnerships
Collaborating with local non-profits, businesses, and other government agencies to create an effective coordinated response to homelessness.
Preventative Measures
Implementing policies that prevent homelessness before it starts, such as prevention services and training.
More Transparency
Regularly reporting on the progress of homelessness emergency and initiatives, including the number of individuals housed and the effectiveness of support services.
Building a Stronger Economy for All
Housing Stability: Address the housing crisis by preventing displacement and homelessness,
Attract Community-Minded Businesses: Work with economic development partners to recruit businesses that pay living wages and prioritize community well-being.
Support Small Businesses: Partner with local chambers to improve access to programs that help small and micro businesses grow sustainably.
Skills Training and Workforce Development: Partner with Clark College, WSU Vancouver, and other organizations to recruit, train and equip residents with the skills needed for high-demand jobs.
Embracing All People
Every resident deserves to be valued, feel a sense of belonging, and empowered to reach their full potential.
To build a stronger, more inclusive community, we must:
Public Safety: Continue building trust and enhancing public safety for all, ensuring that every resident feels secure, respected, and supported by their city police and fire department.
Youth Engagement: Partner with School Districts to develop future leaders and ensure young voices are included in civic engagement.
Community Culture: Create a feeling of community across the city and invest in neighborhood spaces that bring people together.
